The paintings and oil pastels of nationally recognized artist Marianne Mitchell speak of abstraction in harmony. They capture the essence of an emotional and physical sense of place inspired by nature and architecture. Contradiction and compliment are held in visual poetic balance through light and dark values, transparent and opaque color, and surface texture. Through luminous layers of color woven together in all of her work, Marianne gives the gift of resonant beauty to the viewer.
